Positions
A GPX file is a sequence of recorded positions.
GPX Viewer draws each track segment on the map exactly as recorded. Segments are never joined, so a gap in the recording stays a gap.
A desktop application for viewing, analysing and editing GPS tracks, with official and open maps, elevation profiles coloured by gradient and detailed activity data.
macOS 0.3.0 for Apple silicon and Intel. Windows 0.3.0. Open a GPX file in your browser
Positions
GPX Viewer draws each track segment on the map exactly as recorded. Segments are never joined, so a gap in the recording stays a gap.
Distance and elevation
Geodesic distance between points forms the horizontal axis. The elevation is smoothed over 25 m and coloured by its gradient over 50 m.
One position, two views
Inspect the profile and the marker moves on the map; hover the route and the cursor moves on the graph. Values are labelled as recorded or calculated.
More measurements
Speed, heart rate, cadence, power and temperature can be combined on their own scales or stacked, against distance, elapsed time or moving time.
Graphs
Fourteen measurements as the main graph, combined or stacked layouts, and three horizontal axes in both Mac editions. Screenshots of GPX Viewer 0.3.0 with a synthetic test file.

Historical weather New in macOS 0.3.0
GPX Viewer asks a weather archive for the places and hours of a recording and matches the answer to every point: temperature, wind and its direction against your track, rain, humidity, pressure and cloud cover. The values are model estimates, marked as such and kept apart from anything your devices measured.
The synthetic sample route of 12 September 2026 with the historical weather GPX Viewer retrieves for it: 3 places along the route, hourly model values matched to each moment and blended between places. Real model values for the sample's real places and date; the route and its timestamps are synthetic. Weather data by Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0), based on data and products of ECMWF; contains modified Copernicus Climate Change Service information.
Maps
Apple Maps on Mac, OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap and CyclOSM, national aerial and topographic services, and Thunderforest, Esri, Azure Maps, TomTom, HERE or Mapbox with your own key. Every map keeps its owner's credit visible.
Map sources and attributionGPX Viewer Web Lite
A lighter viewer that runs in this website: map, elevation and speed graphs, heart rate, cadence and power, statistics and playback. Your file is read in your browser and never uploaded.
The map preview loads when this section is visible.
Statistics
The statistics of the sample, calculated with the rules of the application: gain counts changes of at least 5 m, moving time counts steps of up to 300 s at 0.5 m/s or more, and distance never bridges a recording gap.
