Navigating the map

Move and zoom the map, choose base maps and overlays, find places and keep the map in step with the graph.

Move and zoom

Drag to move, scroll or pinch to zoom. On a Mac, the compass and zoom buttons stay in the lower right corner, clear of the map credits.

Maps and Layers

Open Maps and Layers from the toolbar:

  • Base maps: Apple Maps (Mac), OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap, CyclOSM, official aerial and topographic maps, and the best satellite or hybrid mosaic, which prefers official imagery by country.
  • Overlays: cycle infrastructure, hiking, MTB and signposted cycle routes, roads and place names. Each overlay has its own opacity.
  • Keyed maps: Thunderforest, Esri, and on Mac Microsoft Azure Maps, TomTom, HERE and Mapbox, with your own API key.

When your route lies where official imagery exists, GPX Viewer offers it in a banner.

Credits

Every map shows its owner’s credit. On narrow windows the credit line shortens; the info button lists the full credits and terms.

Map and graph together

Hovering the route within a few points moves the graph cursor to that position; moving along the graph moves the marker on the map. Selecting a section on the graph fits the map to that section.

Places

Find a place searches with Geoportail Luxembourg or Apple Maps. See Privacy and data handling for what is sent.
